MLK & a Winner :)

Thanks to those of you who entered my little giveaway! Like I always do, I just closed my eyes and scrolled up and down to pick the winner :) Congrats to Elizabeth Destephano! I just emailed you a copy of All You Need is LOVE! Enjoy!

This week we have been learning all about Martin Luther King, Jr. I forgot how much I love teaching about him. We had some great discussions and I think our students really understand what tolerance is. To start our week, we did the hardest lesson, which we do every year. It really demonstrates segregation and what it probably felt like. You can read all the details HERE.

These are some books we love to read:

Today we made these craftivities about our own dreams for our school, our community, and our world. This is a freebie from Mrs. Prince that we modified just a bit! We didn't have the time {or the energy} to put the yarn on 48 mobiles, so we made booklets instead. Stapling is way easier :) And as you can see, I just hand drew the cover. I think they still look pretty cute! The kids didn't use templates to make their MLKs, and I love doing it this way! I love seeing the differences in each one.

All I have to say is that I am very thankful for a three day weekend! I cannot wait to spend time snuggling and playing with this sweet thing! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

  1. I think your kids booklet covers were great. I will remember them next year. One other thing I found out too late for this year was a "Dream Mobile" at http://monthbymonth.scholastic.com/printables.html. The booklet and mobile would make a great duo.
