News to Share + a GIVEAWAY :)

Hey sweet friends! Are you there? If so, thank you for still following along, even though I haven't blogged in a REALLY long time! That little girl of mine keeps me super busy! And I will be real honest.. I just didn't feel very motivated to blog. Amy and I had the sweetest class this year. THE sweetest. We were so lucky! But long story short, micromanagement sucks, and I didn't think posting about our basal and our report card assessments was much fun :)

So, some big changes are happening for this school year. At the end of April, I accepted a job in our district to be an elementary art teacher! I am beyond excited for this position! I had actually thought of going to school for art education because I have always been pretty passionate about it, but the realistic, worried side of me knew that it would be much harder to find a job where I wanted to be, since there is only one art teacher per school! So I majored in elementary ed instead (and later got some extra certifications), and ended up in second grade, which I ended up LOVING. It is such a fun grade! But in the back of my mind, I always said if an art position came about, I would try for it!

So I found out in the spring that there was a need for two art teachers in our district, and I was offered both positions! I ultimately chose the new school in our district, and I am THRILLED to be a part of it! I know a lot of the staff there, and I can already tell it is just SUCH a positive place, which is just what I need. And did I mention it's a new school, only going into its third year? So everything is still so nice and pretty and new :)

After nine years in second grade at the same school, this is going to be a HUGE change for me! I've only ever taught 2nd (unless you count my semester student teaching in 3rd). I am a little really nervous about those kinders.... they are so leeeeettle! But I am ohhhh-so excited to do teach and do art all day long, and not have to worry about all of the other "stuff" that comes with being a regular classroom teacher.

I am not sure what the future of this blog will be. I can't decide if I should make it all about art, start a new art blog, post past ideas I would do in 2nd.... I am not sure! What I DO know is that I am still creating resources for TPT because I just really, really enjoy making things for kids, and things I know I would use in my own classroom! In fact, I wanted to show some of my newest ones to you!

I had a request to do some monthly literacy centers, and I have really enjoyed making these over the summer! I am excited to know that even though I won't be able to use them, that other teachers and students will get to!

I am going to give one follower their choice of centers! Please leave a comment with your pick along with your email address, and I will choose a winner soon! Click on each picture to see the previews in my TPT store! I hope you will love them :)

Again, if you're still checking out this blog, THANK YOU. I appreciate it so very much!

  8. All of the centers are cute but I have to choose the apple theme! Here in Massachusetts we sure do love our orchard fresh apples in the Fall as well as learning about MA native Johnny Appleseed! This would tie in perfectly. Mrs.Sommer12@gmail.com
